UdSSR/Russia

125,000 kilometers were covered at the end of a total of nine journeys to all republics and to the outermost borders of the Soviet Union, the photographic yield of which Dieter Blum presents in this illustrated book. He was only able to take numerous pictures with special permission from the highest authorities – and the most astonishing thing is that Blum is the first foreigner to have received official permission for aerial photography in the USSR. Thus, this illustrated book has become more than just a voyage of discovery to a country unknown to us. It is the work of a great, world-renowned photographer that will not be repeated in the foreseeable future, and it reflects the entire wealth of facets of the multi-ethnic family of the Soviet Union Republic.
